China becomes world’s largest Internet market

China passed the United States to become the world’s largest Internet market with 253 million web users at the end of June, the China Network Information Center announced Thursday. China added 43 million Web users in the first six months of this year, while the number of U.S. Internet users increased to 230 million at the end of June from 218 million last year, the Beijing-based agency, which licenses online domain names, said in a statement on its Web site.
